Iota Phi

at American University

Chapter History

The Iota Phi Chapter at American University was founded in the spring of 2014 as the first new sorority on campus in over 30 years. In the past two years since colonization, we have grown our chapter to more than 150 active sisters and alumnae.

We pride ourselves on being diverse and dedicated students who are leaders in the Greek community at AU. Our location in Washington, DC provides us with many opportunities to intern with prestigious organizations, plan fun sisterhood events and grow in our relationship with our philanthropic partner, Autism Speaks.

Our members are involved on campus in professional fraternities, environmental organizations, and excel in the performing arts. They have held prestigous internships, docked numerous community service hours and adventured around the world in study abroad programs.

Despite having only been a presence on AU's campus for a short time, Alpha Xi Delta has already proved itself to be a team player among the nine Panhellenic organizations, fifteen Interfraternity Council organizations, and six Intercultural Greek Collective organizations. Being an active member in AU's Greek life and supporting other organizations is extremely important to us.
