Alpha Xi Delta

Iota Phi at American University

Community Service

"I joined Alpha Xi to find a sense of community at American University, and also to find a group of women passionate about giving back to others. Community service is such a great opportunity to do important work in the greater DC area, grow closer with sisters, and learn more about ourselves as individuals. We are so lucky to get to work with so many incredible organizations that sisters are passionate about, and are so excited that we are able to continue this important work in our community alongside our sisters."

- Siena Roberts, Community Service Director

Alpha Xi Delta is dedicated to community service, not only with our philanthropy Autism Speaks, but in our D.C. community as well. Each semester our Community Service Director, Siena Roberts plans several external community service opportunities for our sisters to take part in. Just this year we have volunteered at Iona Senior services, a longtime friend of the Iota Phi Chapter, Relay for Life, Capital Arena Food Bank, National Parks Services, and Horace Mann Elementary School. And sisters are always proposing and creating their own service events, like last year when senior Alex Thorne helped plan Sleep Out at AU for her senior capstone. Each of our sisters has something they're passionate about and Alpha Xi gives us a chance to use our passions to make a difference in our community.
