Community Service

"Community service is important to the Iota Phi Chapter because Washington, D.C. is our home for our college years. Engaging with our community is empowering, and helps to actualize our values of courage, graciousness, and peace."

- Ashira Naftalia, Community Service Director

Alpha Xi Delta is dedicated to community service, not only with our philanthropy Autism Speaks, but in our community as well. Each semester our Community Service Director plans several external community service opportunities for our sisters to take part in. Just this year we have volunteered at Iona Senior services, a longtime friend of the Iota Phi Chapter, Relay for Life, Capital Arena Food Bank, National Parks Services, and Horace Mann Elementary School. And sisters are always proposing and creating their own service events, like last semester when senior Alex Thorne helped plan Sleep Out at AU for her senior capstone. Each of our sisters has something they're passionate about. Alpha Xi gives them a chance to use our passions to make a difference in our community.
